I don’t know about you guys, but I am not a fan of memorials and they have never taken place on my travel list. But the Shipka memorial makes an exception. From the very first moment I got there, I really felt this place was special. The monument is located in the Shipka mountain pass through the Balkan Mountains. It is a memorial devoted to those who died for the Liberation of Bulgaria during the sublime Battles of Shipka Pass in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78. Every year on Liberation day, March 3 people gather there to honour the deed of the one who lost their lives for freedom. You can imagine how deep places like this one can touch my heart.
Are you a fan of memorials?
